GMA is one of the largest manufacturers of extrusion dies (flat-dies, slot dies) and co-extrusion adapters in the Western world, with more than 35 years of experience. In addition to state-of-the-art software for flow channel design and flow simulation, we draw on our staff’s wealth of experience and an extensive library of proven designs.
In-house chrome plating
High-quality chrome plating of extrusion dies can only be achieved using equipment specifically optimised for this task. As chrome plating is one of the final production steps, errors in this process often lead to long delivery delays – these are avoided by having our own chrome plating facility.
High-quality steel from Germany
High-quality tools can only be manufactured using high-quality tool steel; GMA sources its plastic mould steel from Germany.
In addition, dies made of Hastelloy are also manufactured, for processing special plastics.
Fully digitalised company
Not only is the design department, with its capabilities in duct design and flow simulation software, fully digitally networked, but so is the production department with all its machine tools. Production processes are optimised, potential machine failures are detected and manufacturing processes are automatically adjusted – an essential prerequisite for for on-time delivery.

Automatic dies, in conjunction with thickness gauges, are used for the precise control of the thickness profile of films and sheets.
- Automatic system with ‘thermal bolts’
Heated/cooled bolts operate on the principle of thermal expansion. - Automatic system with electric motors
MCAD system: electric motors (each bolt driven individually and independently by a motor), very fast, very precise, large movement ranges – full gap adjustment possible (across the entire flexible range of the flex lip).
The position of each individual bolts is always known and can be stored; it is reproducible, and even (mostly unnecessary) manual intervention are noticed.
The thickness gauge only needs to transmit the actual values (it does not require its own control software).
High quality slot dies for liquid coating are manufactured in an air-conditioned clean room.
